1) Can I use the Max Cut Off on the SuperMax?

Yes – any Max Cut-Off produced after December 2005 can be used on the Super Max. Older Max Cut-Off models can only be used with the Max-20. Please also note that the Max Cut-Off has ‘human factor’ limitations. An average operator can cut maximum 0.7mm steel and 1.2mm aluminum. For thicker metals we advise using the Tapco Power Cut Off.

2) What is a Power Cut Off?

The Power Cut Off was invented to cut thicker metals especially narrow 1.2 and 1.5 mm aluminum strips without the ‘flake effect’. It is an electrical powered scissor which mounts on the Max Cut-Off railing system for perfectly straight cuts. For further details please visit Power Cut Off section on www.tapcoeurope.com/tools

3) What kind of accessories can be used on SuperMax?

You can use the same accessories as on Max20 – Max Cut Off, Angle Gauge, Brake Buddy and Power Cut Off.

4) What lengths of SuperMax are available?

SuperMax is provided in the same lengths as Max20 – 2.6m, 3.2m, 3.8m and 4.4m. SuperMax 4.4m long has two sets of stands.

5) Is there one size of SuperMax stand?

No, there are two sizes of SuperMax stands – small size for SuperMax08 and large size for SuperMax10 and SuperMax12. SueprMax14 is equipped with two sets of the small sized stands.

6) How is the Supermax packaged when shipped?

The complete SuperMax comes into 2 packs – Super Max8, SuperMax 10, SuperMax12 and 3 packs – SuperMax14. Max Cut Off is packed inside SuperMax stand box.

7) Can I use a forklift to unload and load SuperMax?

No - Never use a forklift to handle the SuperMax. This could cause deformation of long parts of the machine. SuperMax should be man handled only.

8) Can I use Max20 spare parts for SuperMax?

Only a limited number of ‘small’ spare parts can be used both on Max20 and SuperMax. All the critical parts in SuperMax are different from Max20.

9) Is the throat depth the same as in Max20?

No, it has increased depth of a full 50 cm.

10) Is the SuperMax as portable as the Max-20?

Basically it has the same portability features as Max20. You can detach the machine from the stand quickly and easily. Due to the increased weight of the machine it cannot be carried so easily. SuperMax has become more of a workshop machine. However it can still be easily transported. Man power is the limitation.

11) How is the SuperMax different from the Max20?

Basic mode of operation remains the same. SuperMax has increased strength of critical parts. This includes aluminum castings, pivot links, base and moving hinge, locking anvil, ergonomic locking and lifting handle. It has given 30% of clamping and bending power increase.
SuperMax also has a Locking Anvil backed up 2mm in relation to the Fixed Hinge.
This accommodates thicker metals and increases the holding force during 180 deg hem.

12) How about greasing of the SuperMax moving parts?

Tapco recommends greasing Wear Strip and Rubber Strip system with WD-40 grease or equivalent (See the SuperMax Operating Instructions). In case of heavy workshop SuperMax works we suggest to grease Pivot Link moving parts system with WD-40 or equivalent grease.

13) Can you bend painted metal on SuperMax?

Yes, because of the vinyl strip on Moving Hinge there is no damage to the material surface during bending.

14) What kind of adjustment do I need to make on SuperMax?

You only need to adjust the clamping force on Pivot Links depending on the material thickness and tensile strength. (See the SuperMax Operating Instructions).

15) What is the maximum thickness of aluminum and steel SuperMax can bend?

For aluminum it is: 1.5mm for aluminum for the followings alloys: 1200, 1050A, 3103, 5005. Temper: O/H111, H12, H14, H22, H24, Tensile Strength <250 N/mm2, 1 mm for cold rolled steel, Tensile Strength <400 N/mm2.
